Ada Marie Shackelford Hall, age 94, of Urbanna, departed this life on November 15, 2017. Mrs. Hall was born in Gloucester County, Virginia, the daughter of Hubert Landron Shackelford and Ada Lee Lewis Shackelford. She was valedictorian of her graduating class at Achilles High School in Gloucester and attended Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg. During World War II, Mrs. Hall worked at the Naval Mine Depot. She served as bookkeeper for H. C. Shackelford and Son, Mike’s Tire and Recapping, and was bookkeeper and co-owner of F. L. Hall Petroleum Products for twenty-five years. Ada Marie was an active member of Urbanna Baptist Church for fifty-seven years. She taught Sunday School, was active in the Women’s Missionary Union, served on the decorating committee and was a long-time member of the pulpit committee. She loved her church and her family and worked tirelessly to give ongoing support and guidance to both. She also loved to read and was a member of a Mathews Book Club, the Middlesex Women’s Club, and enjoyed playing bridge with friends in a local bridge club. She is survived by her husband and constant companion of 73 years, Francis Linton Hall, two daughters, Frances Marie Robins (Edwin) of Deltaville and Laura Virginia Shreaves (Bub) of West Point, two sons, Landron Craig Hall, Sr. (Patty) and Lewis Overton Hall (Cerise), of Urbanna. She was loved and will be missed by her eight grandchildren: John Matthew Robins, Lauren Marie Hall Pollicino, Windsor Holland Hall Johnson, William Francis Robins, Landron Craig Hall, Jr., Hunter Francis Shreaves, Meghan Marie Hall, and Maggie Mae Hall, and twelve great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2:30 PM on Saturday, November 18, 2017, at Urbanna Baptist Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 1:30 PM. A graveside service will follow at Middlesex Memorial Cemetery in Urbanna. Memorial donations may be made to the Deacons’ Benevolent Fund of Urbanna Baptist Church, PO Box 416, Urbanna, VA 23175.
