Alfred Ray Carlton, 79, of Center Cross passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, November 12, 2018. Ray was especially known for his keen sense of humor. He attended the University of Richmond prior to traveling around the continental United States. Ray was one of the founders of the Essex County Little League where he coached baseball and softball for many years. He was a devoted Cleveland Indians & Browns fan his entire life. Ray loved watching all sports and keeping up with current affairs. He was a lifetime member of Ephesus Baptist Church and the Tappahannock Volunteer Rescue Squad.
Ray was preceded in death by a daughter, Faye Ann Carlton. He was an extremely proud and loving parent to his devoted children. Survived by his son Rusty (Kay) Carlton and his daughter, Kathy (Cliff) Ogg all of Tappahannock; a loving “Pop” and “Pop Pop” to his grandchildren, Russell Carlton, Maria Ogg and Millie Carlton and his devoted dog “Puddin”.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 16, 2018 in the Faulkner Funeral Home, Marks-Bristow Chapel, Tappahannock. Interment will follow in Ephesus Baptist Church Cemetery.
