Alice Lake

Alice M. Lake, 95, passed peacefully from this life on January 22, 2014. A native Vermonter, Alice was born in St. Albans, Vt., on March 20, 1918. She lived her youth and adult years in Sunderland, Vt., prior to moving to Port Charlotte, Fla., in retirement. She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, John Lake, and her sister, Jean Parker, both of whom passed away in 2003. Alice was a spritely woman and loving mother and wife who was a harness-racing fan, and loved riding motorcycles with her husband. She is survived by her daughters, Mildred Rogers with husband Clarence “Skip” of Fair Haven, Vt., and Linda Irwin of Hartfield; her grandchildren, Karen St. Lawrence and husband Shawn, William Farley, Patrick Farley, and Brian Rogers and wife Jennifer; and six great-grandchildren. The family extends gratitude to the aides of Bay Aging, hospice nurses, and to the staff and caregivers at Riverside Convalescent Center who so lovingly cared for her. A celebration of Alice’s life will be held at Christ Church (Episcopal) Parish on Saturday, February 1, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Church, P.O.
