Alvin Smith Knight, 85, of Mathews, Virginia passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2021. Alvin was previously the President of Farmers Bank of Mathews. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church, Oriental Lodge No. 20 AF & AM, Mathews, the Khedive Temple in Norfolk, Urbanna Lodge No. 59, Richmond Commandry No. 2, and the Scottish Rite Temple in Newport News. Alvin was also a 15-year member of the Mathews Volunteer Fire Dept., a member of the Lions Club and he worked at the York County Treasurers Office for 15 years. The family would like to give special thanks to Matilda and Amanda Love for their loving care.
Alvin was predeceased by his parents, Captain Louis M. and Adele Knight.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey Rainier Mitchem; step-daughter, Linda Triolet (Charlie); and a sister, Kathryn Knight Freeman.
The family will begin receiving friends on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at 12:30 followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 p.m. at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, Virginia. Burial will follow with a Masonic Service at H. C. Smither Memorial Cemetery, Hudgins, Virginia. In lieu of flowers donations in Alvin's memory may be made to the Mathews Volunteer Fire Dept., P. O. Bos 1130, Mathews, Virginia 23109 or to the Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad, 94 Cricket Hill Road, Hudgins, Virginia 23076.
