Amanda Nottingham Dillon Taylor, 83 of Williamsburg, Virginia passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021. Amanda was born in Richmond and raised in Ashland, Virginia which was fondly known as the “Center of the Universe”. At the age of 9 she contracted polio and attacked it with grace, determination and met every hurdle with “a smile". Amanda embarked on a wonderful pursuit of work and travel that took her to MIT where she worked in solar energy. She also worked as a teacher in Virginia Beach followed by several years in France and Turkey. She returned to her beloved Virginia where she met and married her very special friend, Jim Taylor, a US Navy fighter pilot. They traveled across the country many times and also spent two years in Japan. Amanda and Jim retired to Mathews, Virginia and spent 20 wonderful years by the East River. She had a remarkable, exciting and sometimes challenging life filled with friends and happy times.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ed and Eleanor Dillon; a sister, Nora and a brother, Ned.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, James Taylor; step-son, Mark Taylor; sister-in-law, Sharon Taylor; a nephew, Dave Dillon (Barbara); a great nephew and two great nieces.
A Graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Christ Church Cemetery, 320 Williams Wharf Road, Mathews, Virginia 23109. In lieu of flowers, she asked that you give freely of your time and talent to a special cause. Please be advised that state-mandated guidelines will apply to all in attendance, including social distancing and appropriate face coverings.
