Asta Swenson Frost, 87, of Gloucester, Virginia died peacefully on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. She was surrounded by her family, which was the cornerstone of her life. She was born on April 7, 1934 at Huntington Hospital on Long Island, New York. Asta graduated from Huntington High School in 1952 and was able to attend many reunions and she tried to stay in touch with many of her classmates. She married John Emil Frost, the love of her life, on Valentine’s Day, 1953. They were blessed with almost 40 years of marriage. She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Yorktown, Virginia, at the time of her death. Throughout her life, she volunteered in many church activities at a number of Lutheran Churches. She was in quilting groups, the Women of the ELCA and fellowship. Asta and her husband were active for a great many years in the Vasa Order of America at Lindbergh Lodge No. 505 on Long Island, where she received her fifty year pin some time ago. They were members of several yacht clubs and enjoyed their boating adventures up and down the East coast. She also loved dancing, bowling, gardening, reading and baking. Her cakes will surely be missed!
She is preceded in death by her husband John Emil Frost; her parents, Karl Allan Frost and Lillian Swenson; and her oldest son, Lloyd Allan Frost.
She is survived by her children, Linda F. Raha (James), Lance John Frost (Laura), and Kristina F. Peron (Brad). Asta was blessed with nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, whom she dearly loved.
The family will receive friends on Friday, January 14, 2022 from 5 – 7 p.m. at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, Virginia. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Mark Lutheran Church on Saturday, January 15, 2022. Interment will follow the service at 1:00 p.m. at H. C. Smither Cemetery, Hudgins, Virginia.
