Barbara Louise Brooks Carneal, age 83, of Tappahannock, VA passed away Friday November 4, 2022. Barbara was born on February 11, 1939 to Dorothy (Dot) Towsey Brooks and William Wesley (WW) Brooks in Richmond, Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dot and WW; her husband, Temple “Pete” Minor Carneal and her sister, Jean Brooks Watkins.
She is survived by her sister, Brenda Brooks Smith (Bill) of Mechanicsville; daughter Dianna L. Carneal; son, Temple M. Carneal, Jr. (Sue); daughter Rebecca (Becky) E. Morris, all of Tappahannock, and daughter, Debra (Debbie) J. Carneal of Mechanicsville; grandchildren Nancy H. Gates (Ray), Russell “Pete” C. Hammack IV, William E. Hammack (Kara), Angel S. Jett (Wayne), Leianna Gladden (Patrick), Temple (Trey) M. Carneal III (Hannah), Shannon C. Tignor (Jamie), Megan E. Morris (Jermaine), Bobby (BJ) W. Morris Jr. (Kimberly) and Dylan E. Morris (Timbra) along with 16 great grandchildren, and cousins, nieces, nephews and many great friends.
Bobbi was a long-time employee of Southland Corporation (7-11) and Southern States Cooperative. She loved the Rappahannock River, being in it, on it or near it. Bobbi was always about her family and doing for them every day. Known as Bobbi, Barbara, Mama Carneal to her children’s friends and then as Granny to the next generation and the general population.
The pall bearers are Trey Carneal, BJ Morris, Dylan Morris, Will Hammack, Pete Hammack, and Jamie Tignor.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00p.m. on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Marks-Bristow Chapel, Tappahannock, VA with Pastor Woody Campbell officiating. Interment will follow at Essex Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service.
