August 5, 1927 — October 23, 2016

Barbara Huey Davis finished her course with joy on October 23, 2016 to live in eternity with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born on August 5, 1927 in Washington, D.C. to Hester Carter Huey and Samuel Robert Huey, and was the youngest of four children. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Wilson Healy Davis, and her siblings Robert Carter Huey and Virginia Huey Doolittle (Pat). She is survived by her adoring brother, Harvey L. Huey and her six children, W. Maurice Davis (Kathy) of Richmond, VA, Lori Grandin (Jay) of Chester, VA, V. Samuel Davis (Karen) of Chesapeake, VA, W. Allen Davis (Marty) of Roanoke, VA, Jenny Richardson (John) of Shippensburg, PA and Mary Carter Davis of Greensboro, NC and many nieces and nephews. She was an attentive and generous grandmother to Luke, Adam and Joel Davis, Aubrey, Margaret, and Emma Davis, Hannah and Davis Richardson, Caitlin and Grayson Fisher, and John Wilson Morrison. All of her grandchildren adored her. She was blessed with three great-grandchildren, Caleb, Micah, and Adley Davis. Barbara graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and American University, both located in Washington, D.C. She majored in Physical Education and Spanish, was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority, and a member of the women's basketball team. She worked for the Federal Reserve Bank until she married the love of her life, Wilson, and moved to Mobjack, VA, in 1956. Barbara was an avid organ and piano player, and had many piano students. She was very artistic. She sewed, painted, and made crafts, even in her later years. She was a member of Grace-Providence United Methodist Church in Mobjack, VA where she assisted with many vacation bible schools, and often played the organ. Barbara loved to cook and entertain at the beautiful Myrtle Grove Farm in Mobjack, where she and Wilson raised their family. Her heart was one of the most generous ones, and she was always cooking meals to share with friends in the community. She was a shining example of love to everyone who was blessed to know her. Barbara loved to watch professional and collegiate baseball, basketball, and football, and was huge Washington Redskins fan. She will be missed by her family and friends.
