Benjamin Baird Ellis, Sr., 76, of Thomas Neck Farm, Champlain passed away Sunday, June 30, 2019. Ben lived a full, happy life in Essex County on Occupacia Creek. He was a member of Vauter’s Episcopal Church where he served on the Vestry for one term. He also served on numerous agricultural boards, as well as a term on the Essex County Board of Supervisors. Every year he looked forward to deer hunting with the members of the Ole Lloyds Hunt Club. In later years, just hearing the dogs run was all he needed. In his youth fast cars called him often. Later, his tractor and truck pulling events took him around the state and further. Every day he enjoyed his family especially the grandchildren and all of their accomplishments.
Ben is survived by his wife, Frances Hundley Ellis; two children, Benjamin B. Ellis, Jr. (Shannon) of Champlain and Baker Ellis Garber (Todd) of Bridgewater; five grandchildren, Laura Peyton Ellis, Elizabeth Baylor Ellis, Waring Ellis Garber, Peyton Todd Garber and Benjamin B. “Tripp” Ellis, III and his devoted employee of 43 years, Ralph Taylor.
