Bessie Tignor

On Friday, July 15, 2022, Bessie Allen Tignor, loving mother and grandmother, went to be with the Lord at age 93.

Bessie was born on June 7, 1929, to Thomas and Mary Allen in Caret, Virginia. She worked as a lifelong farmer alongside her husband, and was a member of Upper Essex Baptist Church.

Bessie devoted her time to serving others. She cared deeply for families and friends in the community. She was loved for her hospitality, and her kind and compassionate spirit.

Bessie was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Daniel G. Tignor. She is survived by three children, Gouldin (Nancy), Larry (Jeanelle), and Daniel E. (Donna). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Laura (Daniel), Thomas, Matthew (Alyson), Katelyn (Grant), and Kendall (Dylan) and seven great-grandchildren, Catherine, Jacob, Victoria, Laken, Gentry, Grady, and Palmer. She cherished her nieces, nephews, and special friends.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 19th, 2022 at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Marks-Bristow Chapel, Tappahannock, with interment to follow at Upper Essex Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. at the funeral home before the service. The family requests that memorial gifts be made to Upper Essex Baptist Church, P.O. Box 225, Caret, VA 22436.
