Bettie Smith

Bettie Johnson Smith, 72, of Saluda passed away, Wednesday, January 11, 2017 with her family by her side. She fought a long courageous battle with cancer. Bettie retired from VPPSA and then went to work at the Thousand Trails Campground where she never met a stranger and could always strike up a conversation. She loved to watch the wildlife especially watching the birds come out to feed. Bettie was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, a sister and a grandson. She is survived by her husband; Dixon Smith; a daughter, Shirley Marshall (Billy); one brother, Robert Johnson (Molly) of Mobile, Alabama, two sisters; Pauline Harris of Chesapeake, VA and Helen Davis (Dickie) of Florida. Grandchildren, Ernie Milby, Ashley Schultz and Ericka Darr (Chad). Great grandchildren, Morgan Milby, Kaylyn and Brayden Schultz, Anthony, Josh and Brooke Darr and her two special fur babies, Bit and Rocko. A celebration of life service will be held 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 15, 2015 at New Hope Memorial Baptist Church, King & Queen County.
