Beulah R. Sadler, age 93, passed away on August 24, 2017. She was a member of Mathews Chapel United Methodist Church where she had been an active member of the Myrtle Matthews Sunday School Class. She also belonged to the Lilly Hopkins Missionary Circle at Salem United Methodist Church.
Besides her church activities, Beulah was a member of the Oriental Chapter No. 30, of the order of the Eastern Star for over fifty years.
Beulah was born in Mathews County on December 26, 1923. She was the daughter of the late Upshur and Mary Lewis Rainier. She was preceded in death by her husbands Calvin Thomas, Larry Atherton, and Ishmael "Billy" Sadler. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Golden Dutton, Lydia Rowe, and Ruth Robins and her brothers Upshur Rainier and Melvin Rainier.
She is survived by her son Bryon Thomas and step-daughter, Joy Morgan. Also, she is survived by four step-grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Beulah is also survived by her sisters Marilyn Morgan, Joyce Downs, Janice South, Audrey Knight (Alvin) and sister-in-law Florence Rainier, plus many nieces and nephews, and special loved one Allan Serrano. The family would like to thank Beulah's devoted and loving caregivers Adrienne White, Janice South and Frances Ellis for the exceptional care she received for the past few years.
Between 7-8:30 p.m. on Friday, August 25, the family will receive friends at Mathews Chapel United Methodist Church, Cobbs Creek, Virginia. Funeral services will be conducted at the church on Saturday, August 26 at 3:00 p.m. The Reverend Lisa Blackmonson will officiate at the services. Interment will follow the service at Trinity Cemetery, Foster, Virginia. Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
