Carl E. Tate

Carl E. Tate, age 85 of Deltaville, VA, formally of Mechanicsville, VA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 24, 2024. 

He is predeceased by his parents, Eddie and Ethel Tate, and daughter Sherry Sharpe. 

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Tate: son, Randy Tate and wife Dale Tate: one sister, Edith Wilson and her son Sandy Wilson; 5 grandchildren, Michael and Samatha Sharpe, Crystal and John Stilley, Matthew and Lauren Willington, Zack Willington, Amanda and Michael Bachmann; two stepsons, Charlie and Johnny Mckinney; 8 grandchildren, Nathan, Conner, Gunnar, Chloe, Shannon, Corrine, Ozzie and Erik.

He was a member of Clarksbury Methodist Church in Deltaville, VA, a lifetime member of the Donovan Masonic Lodge # 75 of Deltaville, and a member of the Mechanicsville Volunteer Fire Department. After retiring from printing with Wells Fargo Bank, he moved to Deltaville where he enjoyed life, fishing, and being at “The River”. He was a 1956 graduate of Battlefield High School in Mechanicsville and attended Bluefield University in Bluefield, VA. 

The funeral will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Clarksbury Methodist Church, 15924 General Puller Hwy, Deltaville, VA 23043. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at church. Reception/Celebration of Life will follow in the church social hall. Burial will take place on Thursday, October 31, 2024, at 2pm at Signal Hill Memorial Park, Hanover, VA. 

In lieu of flower, donations in Carl Tate’s memory can be made to Middlesex Volunteer Rescue Squad, PO Box 98, Deltaville, VA 23043, or Clarksbury Methodist Church, 15924 General Puller Hwy, Deltaville, VA 23043.
