Carolyn Major

February 28, 1944 — April 19, 2021

Carolyn Johnson Major, 77, of Saluda, went to be with Jesus peacefully on April 19, 2021 surrounded by her loving family.

She was married to her loving husband, Robert, for 58 years. She was well known for her exceptional domestic engineering abilities. She was well skilled in cooking, canning, freezing, and entertaining. Her cooking was known throughout the county as well as across the country as many folks were welcomed into her home from all over for meals. In past years, she was also known as the “Coupon Queen”. Mom loved to travel. She loved her yearly trips to the Outer Banks and Maine and bus trips to Pennsylvania. They visited many states and even enjoyed a river cruise in Europe as well as a favorite trip to Israel.

She was a member of Harmony Grove Baptist Church for most of her life. She and Robert were married there on September 30 after the Sunday church service so we are pleased we can have her visitation there as well to celebrate her life.

She is proceeded in death by her father and mother, Gilbert and Helen Johnson; and her nephew, Webster (Webby) Brooke Jr. She is survived by her husband, Robert; children, Cindy and husband Mark, Jackie and husband Jeff, Bill and wife Jenny, and Amy. She has 10 grandchildren, Christopher, Jennifer, Andrew, Rebecca, Blakely, Brayden, Caroline, Graham, Alexis, and Mason. She also has 11 great-grandchildren, Joshua, Samuel, David, Emma, Olivia, Caleb, William, Micah, Robby, Jackson and Magnolia. Also a sister, Ellen and husband Webster, and many nieces and nephews. She had 4 grand dogs; Buttercup, Ruby, Cutter, and Ernie (favorite).

Visitation is Saturday, April 24, 2021, at Harmony Grove Baptist Church from 5 to 7 p.m. Graveside funeral service is Sunday, April 25, 2021, at the Wortham Hill home place in Stormont at 2 p.m. There will be a dessert reception afterwards.

Arrangements are made by Faulkner Funeral Homes, Bristow-Faulkner Chapel, Saluda.

The family requests donations be made to Central Middlesex Volunteer Rescue Squad (CMVRS) in her memory.

Please be advised that current state-mandated guidelines will apply to all in attendance, including social distancing and appropriate face coverings.
