Charles Elwood Ball

Charles Elwood Ball, 79, of Tappahannock, Virginia, passed away at his home surrounded by family on Thursday, August 7, 2024. He was born in King and Queen County on July 15, 1945. He was the son of Otha H. Ball and Jennie B. Ball, and was a lifetime member of Howertons Baptist Church. 

Charles was an Army Veteran serving from October 1965 to October 1967. He served one year in Vietnam. He received the National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal with one bronze service star; Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device 160; Sharpshooter (Rifle M-14.) He was a delivery driver by for Moore’s Building Supply and Pro Build, retiring after 34 years of service. 

Charles is survived by his wife, Dorothy Schools Ball; son, Charles Vincent Ball and his wife, Heaven, and one granddaughter, Courtney Rose Ball; one brother, James O. Ball, and his wife Diane, and several nephews. 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at Upper Essex Baptist Church, Caret with Reverend S. Roy Foster officiating. The family will receive friends from 10-11:00 a.m. before the service at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Memorial Contributions may be made to Upper Essex Baptist Church, P.O. Box 225, Caret, Virginia, 22436. Faulkner Funeral Homes, Marks-Bristow Chapel, Tappahannock, is assisting the family with arrangements.
