Charles Bennett

Charles Melvin Bennett, Sr., 87 of Saluda, passed away on Saturday, December 11, 2021. He served in and was retired from the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he went on to own and operate Mill-End Carpet Shop & Warehouse in Hartfield, Virginia. He was a fifty plus year member of the Mason’s and member of the Moose Lodge. A world champion skeet shooter, he also enjoyed boating, hunting, fishing, golfing, and most of all, spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his son, Charles “Chip” Bennett, Jr. (Sue); his daughters, Jo-Anne Layden (Reggie), Margie McMillen (Tony), Cathy Colley (Mike); 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Lower United Methodist Church, Hartfield, VA. A reception will follow immediately after in the social hall.
