Christine Schaaf Riggan of Urbanna, VA departed this life on the afternoon of June 21, 2012 from natural causes at the age of 85. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Nathan Marshall Riggan, her three sons Robert W. Riggan of Richmond, VA; David C. Riggan of Pembroke, VA; and Steven M. Riggan of Mooresville, NC; four grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Christine was born and raised in Richmond, VA; married Marshall on Valentine’s Day 1948, was a member of Urbanna Baptist Church, attended Richmond Professional Institute and worked as a commercial fashion artist for a number of years. While raising her family, she worked for and later retired from the Richmond City School System. In retirement in Urbanna, she was active in the Central Middlesex Volunteer Rescue Squad Auxiliary, the Red Hat Society, and other community events and continued to paint including hand created greeting cards to friends and family throughout her life. Christine will be remembered for her positive outlook, perseverance, kindness, and generosity to all those around her.

Graveside services will be held 11:00am Monday at Middlesex Memorial Cemetery; Red Hill Dr.; Urbanna, VA 23175.
