Claudia Hall

July 21, 1918 — October 13, 2015

Claudia Frances Marchant Hall, widow of Addison Hall, died October 13, 2015, leaving behind a legacy of devotion to her Lord, family, friends and community. She was predeceased by her parents William Frances Marchant and Claudia Scrimger Marchant, two brothers, William Marchant and Leland Marchant, and a grandson, Jason Soucek. She is survived by her children Claudia H. Soucek, Aubrey Hall, Howard Rowlson-Hall, Wayne Hall, her sister, Golden Forbes, eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Born in Newport News, VA July 21, 1918, Frances was graduated from Syringa High School and throughout her life she was dedicated to learning, taking a number of educational classes through the years, and in her late sixties became a Certified Nurse’s Assistant. Her devotion to her Lord led her to teach Sunday School classes, Sunbeams, GAs, Acteens, RAs, and a leader of the Women’s Missionary Union. Frances had a passion for mission outreach which prompted her to spend two weeks in Fallon, Nevada to help conduct Back Yard Bible Studies for Native American children. In her professional life, she worked for the Bank of Middlesex, Mizpah Nursing Home and partnered with her husband in the Deltaville Supply Co. Devoted to her community of Deltaville and Middlesex County, she participated in the Deltaville Improvement Association, PTAs, American Cancer Society Board and Hands Across Middlesex holding offices in these organizations. At the young age of nearly 93, she visited Mouaze, France to participate in a ceremony which memorialized her brother, Billy, who was shot down near Mouaze during WWII. It is said that she won the hearts of all those who attended the event. She described the trip in six words, “God planned, pure love, overwhelming and amazing.” Lovingly called by her grandchildren grandma, Papa, Cita, and Foxy Grandma, she was alert to the end and cheered by the news of more great grandbabies to come. Her legacy is deep and wide. Visitation will be at Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home October 16, 2015 from 5:30 to 7:30. A celebration of her life will be held at Zoar Baptist Church in Deltaville, VA on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers Frances requested donations be made to Jacob’s Ladder, P.O. Box 555 Urbanna, Va 23175 or the Zoar Baptist Youth Fellowship, c/o Zoar Baptist Church P.O.
