Clay Gibboney Shelton passed from this earthly plane on March 16, 2018. He was born June 28, 1933 in the small town of Honaker, Virginia to Nora and Clay Shelton. Clay spent most of his working career in sales but loved best his early days working as a telegraph operator for the railroad. Described by many as a true Virginia gentleman, most of Clays Virginia days were spent in Richmond where he met his wife, Betty. Betty preceded Clay in passing in September of 2010. Survived by Clay include his daughter, Tamara Shelton Lacy, his granddaughter, Hali Lacy Hagerich with husband Tony, his grandson, Robert Clay Lacy with wife Rachel, and his adorable great granddaughter, Charlee Olivia Hagerich. In addition to family, Clay is survived by his much loved pup, Dudley, as well as a world of friends and acquaintances whose lives he touched with his gentle, caring, and always interested way. Memorial services will be held Friday, March 23 at 11:30 a.m. at Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home in Saluda, Virginia. Interment will be at Harmony Grove Baptist Church with reception to follow at the home of sister-in-law and friend, Emily Chowning in Urbanna, Virginia. The family wishes to express gratitude for all the many gifts of love and support as well as the stories and memories that have been shared during this time.
