Corola Henkel Ferguson passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, July 6, 2020. She was 92 years old. She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, J. Waverly Ferguson, Jr.; her parents, Alfred and Corola Henkel, and her oldest son Jimmy.
Corola had many talents. She loved sewing and made most of her own clothes. She did beautiful work, and loved creating gifts for friends and family. Corola also taught sewing classes for several years at different locations. She could knit, crochet, paint, and create most anything she wanted and it was always beautiful. What she really enjoyed was traveling with her husband, Waverly. They covered many miles together on land, sea, and air. Cruising on their yacht, “My Job” with the Virginia Yacht Club for many years was a favorite of hers.
She is survived by her sons, Jack Ferguson (Robin), Joe Ferguson (Cindy), Jerry Ferguson (special friend, Wendy) and daughter Tricia Herrin (Felix). “Ga”, as she was referred to, is also survived by grandchildren, Valerie Reeves (Frank), Sarah Ferguson, Waverly Ferguson (Ashley), Matthew Ferguson (Brittany), Benjamin Rennolds, Greg Rennolds (Leslie) and Jeremy Herrin as well as eight great grandchildren, with another arriving soon. She is also survived by her brother Bob Henkel and his wife, Carolyn, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held at Remlik Memorial Gardens. Faulkner Funeral Homes, Bristow-Faulkner Chapel, Saluda is assisting the family with arrangements.
The family wishes to thank Sherri and Steve Sanders for all of their help, assistance, and compassion over the past few years. It has been greatly appreciated.
