Daniel Paul Fomin, 92, of Hartfield, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2021. He was a member of the Living Waters Church, Tikvat – Israel, and Cornerstone Fellowship Church.
He will be lovingly remembered by his 9 surviving children, 5 brothers, 52 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and numerous family members and friends.
Daniel Fomin was born in Aleksandrovka, Ukraine on the 15th of December 1928.
The 11th of 12 siblings, at 16 he took on the role of raising his 12 siblings due to his father being sent to war and never returning. A loving husband of 46 years to the late Tamara Mordick, raising 12 children together.
He survived famine and imprisonment for his faith in the Soviet Union.
He was fluent in Ukrainian, Romanian, Moldavian, Russian, and partial English.
He worked as a carpenter and foreman builder in his early years, eventually teaching carpentry. After he moved to the States in 1992, his hobbies and passions included fishing, bee keeping, farming, gardening, singing, and especially sharing his testimony and faith with everyone he knew or just met.
His enthusiasm for life and positive outlook was infectious. He always had a bright smile, encouragement, and emanated kindness and care to all he encountered.
As we reach the moment to say goodbye, we want to take time to appreciate all the joy, hope, and love that he shared with us.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, October 9, 2021 at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 2 – 3 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in H. C. Smither Memorial Cemetery, Hudgins, Virginia. There will be a reception at Living Waters Church of God, Dutton, Virginia immediately following the burial.
