David Lee Bryant, 69, of Locust Hill,VA, died at home peacefully, Thursday, December 12, 2013 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. Born in Detroit, Dave was the son of the late Fred and Ann Bryant of Champaign, IL. He was a graduate of Northwestern University and served as an officer in the United States Air Force. Dave attended graduate school at Emory University, and enjoyed a career in advertising. In 2004, he retired from Howard, Merrell and Partners in Raleigh. After retiring, Dave volunteered as a radio announcer at WCPE in Wake Forest. Dave was a dedicated, loving man who took great pride in his family. He was known for his keen sense of humor and sharp intellect, and in business, his first concern was always for people. A self-taught, lifelong sailor, one of Dave’s greatest joys was exploring the Caribbean and Chesapeake Bay from the helm of his boat: TRUE COLORS. Dave is survived by his wife, Deborah Bryant. He is also survived by his sons, Scott Bryant of Manteo (wife Marcia), and Jeff Bryant of Fuquay Varina (wife Jennifer) and grandsons Jackson and Jenner Bryant. Dave is also survived by his sister, Judy Bryant of Brentwood, TN and his stepson Brian Ranck of Apex. He is predeceased by his sister, Susan Wild, of Champaign, IL. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 19th at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh with visitation beginning at 6pm, memorial at 6:30pm, and a reception following.
