David Valadez

December 31, 1969 — September 29, 2015

David Lopez Valadez, born in Fresnio, Zacatecas, Mexico on November 9, 1939, went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday September 29, 2015. Having spent the majority of his life in the cities of Carlsbad and Oceanside, he considered California his home, but joined his family and the community in Urbanna in May 2014. He is survived by his eldest son David III (Gidget), daughter Sonia (John), youngest son Daniel (Ana) and many beloved brothers and sisters, nephews and nieces. His pride and joy were his grandchildren Jacob Pender, Rachel, and Hali Valadez, Amilia, Danny Jr., and Joaquin Valadez. Dad served in the U.S. Air Force and was awarded Airman of the Year during his tour at Lakenheath AFB, England. He retired from the Carpenter’s Union after more than 30 years and worked with the Oceanside school district for a short period, sharing his wisdom and good humor with the staff and children. Among the many things Dad enjoyed were his cactus garden, photography, and music. His Faith was a cornerstone of his journey and he was always ready to lend a helping hand during holiday meal preparation and delivery with Hands Across Middlesex. Sharing his many blessings with others was his passion, and his strong work ethic no matter the cause, remains a strong influence in the lives of those he touched. We will miss Dad’s stories, his penchant for barbecuing, flea markets and book stores, but most importantly, we are grateful to God for affording us the gift of time with Dad this past year. “The family is grateful to the community and the congregation of Urbanna United Methodist church for their overwhelming support and kindness during the memorial service last Saturday.  We are humbled by the show of love for Dad.”
