Donald Hayes Daniel, 82, of Remlik, went home on Sunday, August 5th. Born January 13, 1930, he was one of seven children to Emory Jefferson and Ada B. Powell Daniel. Donald was an Army veteran serving his tour of duty in Germany and he was a member of Urbanna United Methodist Church. Growing up on Montague Island in Jamaica, Donald followed in his fathers foot steps and began his life long work as a waterman. Not one to give much regard to the weather he worked long hours on the waters he knew so well providing for his family. As his father did for him, Donald passed on his knowledge and skills of the water to his son, Dwight. Donald had a strong faith in God, love for his family and was always there for them. He leaves behind his wife of 30 years, Lois, one daughter Delores Newman and her husband Chris, son Dwight and his wife Gina, three step sons, David Williams, Keith Williams and his wife Patricia and Guy Williams and his wife Abby, four grandchildren, Emory Daniel, Allen, Donnie and Becky Newman, five step grandchildren, Davie, Brandon, Kelly, Thomas and Petie Williams. Visitation will be held at Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Saluda on Tuesday, August 7th (tonight) from 6 to 7:30 PM. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 8th at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Remlik Memorial Gardens with military honors.
