Donald Smith

Donald (Donnie) Lee Smith, Sr. 73, of Gwynn's Island, VA passed away on Monday, April 2, 2018. Donnie was born the son of the late Miriam and William Smith. At a very young age he started his love of being a commercial fisherman, which was his passion throughout his whole life. Due to health reasons later in life, he became a professional truck driver which he enjoyed for 18 years meeting many friends along the way. As fate would have it, he returned to the water on a smaller scale while being on dialysis for 12 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Harriet Anne and a brother William, Jr. He is survived by his children, Lee Smith (Cindy), Todd Smith (Angie) and Jason Smith (Kim); grandchildren Brandon, Hannah, Parker and Justin Smith; a brother, Eddie Smith (Patricia); and a sister, Matilda Love (Willie).

The family will be receiving friends at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Funeral Chapel, Mathews, VA on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 from 6 – 8 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 11:00 am in the funeral home Chapel. Graveside service immediately following at Milford Cemetery, Moon, VA. Following the service, the family welcomes friends at Gwynn's Island Church of the Nazarene, Hudgins, VA.
