Donald Sinclair Thompson, age 82, passed away on Saturday, June 1, 2013. He was a member of Gwynn's Island Baptist Church. He was an active member of the American Legion Post 83.
Donald graduated from Mathews High School in 1948. He was in the U.S. Navy for four years, after which he worked as a carpenter for several years, eventually becoming a General Building Contractor.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria R. Thompson; two children, Kimberly Sue and "Baby Boy" Thompson; his parents, Joseph Benjamin and Naomi Foster Thompson.
He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia T. Hamlet ( Richard A. Hamlet, Jr,) of Richmond, Virginia; a brother, Benjamin M.Thompson; a grandson, Brandon Sinclair Hamlet of Richmond, Va. Several nieces, nephews and many friends also survive.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 4, 2013 from 7 – 9 pm at Gwynn's Island Baptist Church. A Funeral Service will be held at the church at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 with burial to follow in Gwynn's Island Cemetery.
