Donna Rae Thrift, 67 has gone home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at home in Tappahannock, VA.
She was preceded in death by her parents Edison and Bertha Thrift of Village, and brother Thomas Thrift, Mechanicsville.
She is survived by her loving companion Ricky Hutchinson of 18 years; Ki Hutchinson who was like a brother to her; devoted best friend, Debbie Heywood; special friends, Bill and Susan Johns; sister Glenda Harding, Virginia Beach; niece, Ashley Crooks; grandnieces, Addison and Saylor; grandnephews, Teddy and Cameron; sister-in-law Mary Thrift, Mechanicsville; nephew, Brian Thrift, Henrico; as well as many cousins and longtime friends.
Donna Rae graduated from Northumberland High School and attended Rappahannock Community College. She was a hostess at Lowery’s Restaurant in Tappahannock for 7 years before moving to Richmond. While living in Richmond, she was a Concierge at the Jefferson Hotel from 1986 to 1993, and The Omni Hotel from 1993 to 2004. Donna Rae was known for her bright, sparkling smile. She had a strong faith in God and attended Tappahannock Memorial United Methodist Church. She loved celebrating the Holidays with her friends and family, especially Thanksgiving at Bill and Susan’s. She loved decorating for the holidays, tending to her plants, painting her pictures, sunbathing, watching her favorite TV shows, and spending time with her friends and family. She loved animals but had a special place in her heart for her cats Millie and Kitty Kat.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Faulkner Funeral Home, Marks-Bristow Chapel, 206 N. Church Ln, Tappahannock. Memorial donations in memory of Donna Rae may be made to Maleena’s Wildlife Rescue, 465 Eastern View Rd., Dunnsville, VA 22454.
