Dora Butler McCoy, 67, of Wake, VA passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday, February 5, 2017 at her home. She was the widow of William Thomas McCoy and was also predeceased by her parents, Calvin and Leveice Butler of Hartfield. Dora was a member of Harmony Grove Baptist Church, Donna Chapter #179, Order of the Eastern Star, Deltaville, where she was Past Worthy Matron, and also a member of The Quilting Club. She was a graduate of Charles Beauty School and retired Captain of the Middle Peninsula Regional Security Center. Dora is survived by her daughter Donna McCoy Brown and husband Chuck of Wake, VA, two grandchildren who were the light of her life, Joshua Brown and his fiancée Ashley Hunter of Shacklefords, VA and Amanda Rivenbark and her husband Brenden of Richmond, VA. She is also survived by three sisters, Leona Brownley, Margaret Williams, and Callie Hope Revere (James), three nieces, Tammy Ballantyne (Glenn), Etta Taylor (David) and Callie Jo Revere, three great nieces, Maggie Sammarco (Chadd), Mollie Ballantyne and Lillian Taylor, one great-great nephew Preslee Sammarco and many cousins and friends. Dora is also survived by her lifelong best friend Cheryl Fary Hunt. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 9, 2017, 11:00 AM at Harmony Grove Baptist Church, Topping, VA, with visitation at 10:00 AM before service. Graveside services to immediately follow. Everyone is asked to please join the family after the services in the fellowship hall for a reception in memory of Dora.
