Dorothy Dick

Dorothy Kopp Dick died peacefully in her home in Gloucester, Virginia on Sunday morning, July 10, 2016 at the age of 62. Dorothy is survived by her children, Jennifer McNulty of Atlanta, Georgia, Jeremy Schultz of Rock Hall, Maryland, Christina Dick of Richmond, Virginia and David Dick of Toano, Virginia; her grandchildren, Kane Schultz, Jesse Jr. and Violet McNulty and Kierin and Ainsley Coyer; her sisters, June Jennings of Pensacola, Florida and Susie Schumacher of Gig Harbor, Washington; her brothers, Donnie Kopp of Phoenix, Arizona, Jack Kopp of North Branch, Minnesota and Jerry Kopp of Hinckley, Minnesota.

Dorothy was born on February 28, 1954 in North St. Paul, Minnesota to Violet and Carl Kopp. She graduated from North High School in 1972 where she participated in band and the gymnastics team. She fought a courageous battle against cancer for 8 years. Her children remember her as a loving, spunky, generous, fighter who encouraged them to pursue their goals. She instilled in them her love of music and animals. She was a thoughtful gift-giver, loved Christmas and finding the unique things at antique shops, yard sales and thrift stores. She loved animals so much, caring for cats, dogs, chickens, horses, and goats of her own as well as taking in foster dogs through a golden retriever rescue program. She was very proud of her career in nursing practicing in Florida, Maryland, and Virginia. Dorothy was generous in her community and volunteered with the local Disabled American Veteran's Chapter, Meals on Wheels and local hospice programs for many years. Her faith was important to her and she was an active and dedicated member of the Francis de Sales Church in Mathews, Virginia. She was so loved by her friends and neighbors. She loved life on the water on Burkes Mill Pond. A Funeral is scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, July 16, 2016 at the Church of Francis de Sales, with a reception to follow.
