Dorothy Gibson Hines passed away suddenly after a long illness on Tuesday May 21, 2013 at Memorial Regional Center in Mechanicsville, VA.
“Dottie” was born in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Helen E. and John Roland Gibson and later a resident of Catonsville, Maryland. She grew up in Baltimore, attended St. Joseph’s Monastery and was a graduate of the Institute of Notre Dame. After graduating, she was employed by the C & P Telephone Company for 35 years, retiring as manager. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. After retirement, she became a long time resident of Urbanna, Va. where she was a member of the Middlesex Women’s Club and John Mitchell Garden Club. Dottie enjoyed gardening, golf, quilting and travel. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed hosting numerous parties. She is survived by her husband J. Allen and sisters; Mary Eleanor Goshell, Patricia Hobler Smith, Jean Frances Lucido, and Kathleen Marie Dent.
She was predeceased by her sister Margaret Mary Metzger and is also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Monday May 27 at the Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Saluda from 6 to 8 PM. A rosary service will begin at 5:45PM. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 AM Tuesday, May 28th at Church of the Visitation, 8462 General Puller Hwy (RT 33) Topping, VA. 23169. Interment to follow at church cemetery.
