Earl W. Garbett, Jr. (Coach) of Deltaville, Virginia and formerly of Richmond, Virginia passed away on October 16, 2018.
Coach Garbett served as an educator and coach for 32 years. He started his career at Henrico High School where he taught Health, Physical Education and Biology. He also served as Assistant Football and Head Track Coach. At Mills Godwin High School he taught Biology and served as Assistant Football Coach. In 1989, he became the Head Football Coach at Middlesex High School where his team won the VHSL State Championship in 1993. Coach Garbett was named VHSL State Coach of the Year in 1994.

He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from East Carolina University. When not working with students and athletes, he enjoyed fishing, watching sports on TV, and spending time with friends.
He is survived by his son Steven R. Garbett, daughter-in-law Ashley, and granddaughter Charlotte of Camas, Washington, his foster son William L. Carter, daughter-in-law Jennifer, and granddaughter Ashley, and many, many young people who, over the years, became part of the extended Garbett family.
A Gathering for Coach Garbett will be held at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Bristow-Faulkner Chapel in Saluda, Virginia on Sunday, October 28, 2018 from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A Reception will follow at Sunset Grill in Deltaville, Virginia.
