Edna Duel, 89, of Deltaville and Saluda passed away peacefully Monday, February 24, 2014 after a brief, courageous battle with cancer. Edna was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and nurse, who loved all people and animals. During WWII, Edna served as a Navy Wave and was stationed in Washington D.C. She moved to Deltaville from Chicago, Illinois in 1972 and made many friends there, and later at her home in Saluda. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Duel, of Chicago. She is survived by her daughter Renee Banks (Jack),) grandchildren Hunter Banks and Rachel Banks Axmacher (Jeremy), a great-grand daughter Natalie Axmacher, and her stepdaughter Pam White. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 1st at 2:00 p.m., behind Zoar Baptist Church, in Philippi Memorial Gardens in Deltaville. A reception will be held immediately afterwards at the Church of the Visitation, Topping, VA. The family requests that memorial gifts be made to the Middlesex County Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O.
