Edna Lane Russell, 87, widow of Olden Russell, passed away May 21, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Perquimans County, NC on September 21, 1928, the youngest of nine children. Edna and her husband Olden came to Middlesex County from Chesapeake, VA in 1959 to live and farm at Corbin Hall Farm in Water View. She was ever busy caring for her family and home and preserved many a jar of blackberry jelly. She was a school bus driver for Middlesex County School System for 26 years, and a member of Hermitage Baptist Church. She is survived by one son, Ronnie Russell (Cathy); three daughters, Connie Powell (Tommy), Gina Daniel (Dwight, deceased), and Lorelle Perry (Charles). She also has five grandchildren: Barry Powell (Vicky), Emory Daniel (Tyler), Shannon Brincat (David), Jessica Richardson (Buck), Evan Perry (Peggy) and a special granddog Dixie. She was especially proud of and dearly loved her eight great-grandchildren: Nathan and Madelynn Powell, Wyatt Brincat, Savannah, Isaiah, Noah, and Joshua Richardson, and Luke Perry. She also has many nieces and nephews. Edna was lovingly cared for during this last year by her family and very special sitters: Nellie Fields, Susan Hudnall, and Rachel Hudnall. The wonderful care she received by Rappahannock Westminster Canterbury staff and longtime physician Steven Glessner was truly appreciated. Funeral Services will be held at Hermitage Baptist Church, Church View on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8:30 p.m. on Monday at the church.
