Edward Hudgins, Sr.

Edward Hart Hudgins, Sr., 81, of Foster, Virginia passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024. He was a member and a deacon of Macedonia Baptist Church. Edward graduated in 1961 from Mathews High School. He also drove the school bus while he was in school and served as the janitor in his later years. He worked for Newport News Shipbuilding & Dry Dock, drove for Newton Bus, and drove trucks for M & G Transportation, Amory Seafood, C.W. Davis Contractors, Rappahannock Concrete, Callis Trucking, Great Coastal Express, and Walmart. He retired from truck driving in 2002 and came out of retirement in 2016 to help C. W. Davis Contractors. His two-week stint as a temporary driver turned into a long-term position until he officially retired from driving in 2022. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, photography, and gardening, in which he was a certified master gardener.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Laura Foster Hudgins; two sons, Edward Hart Hudgins, Jr. (Crissy) and Thomas Christopher Hudgins (partner; William E. McCue); brother, David Lee Hudgins; sister, Linda H. Rowe; sister-in-law, Edith Tarrant; grandchildren, James Alvin Krigsvold, Branden Cecil Hudgins, Brooke Nakomis Hudgins (Matthew Grossman), and Raven Sierra Hudgins (Martice Wise III); great-grandchildren, Ryder G. Krigsvold, Raylan H. Grossman, Jolene N. Grossman, and Martice E. “Mars” Wise IV.

The family will receive friends on Friday, December 13, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. After burial at Windsor Gardens Cemetery, Dutton, Virginia, a reception will be held at Macedonia Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Macedonia Baptist Church, P.O.
