Edward J. Sullivan Jr., 75, of Tappahannock passed away peacefully on April 22 surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 52 years, Diane Sullivan. He is survived by his son Jeremy Sullivan (Ryan), daughter Stephanie Rowe (Norman), and four granddaughters, Winter, Bella, Lucy, and Zoe.
Ed was born in Portland, Maine and moved to Virginia with his wife in the 1970’s where he worked as an electrical engineer for 29 years at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren. After taking an early retirement, he began his second career as an Electronics and Robotics teacher for Spotsylvania County and an adjunct professor with Germanna Community College. He finished his career at the Virginia Department of Education as a leader in Career and Technology Education
Ed also took great joy in serving his community, serving multiple terms on the Stafford County School Board with several as Chairman of the Board. He was also very active in his church leading parish ministries and serving as Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator in the Knights of Columbus.
He was a selfless, loving, dedicated son, husband, father, grandfather, and friend to all. He would always say his family and God were all he needed in life. He will be missed but never forgotten.
A viewing will be held at St. Timothy Catholic Church in Tappahannock on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 10:00 am followed by Mass at 11:00 am. The beautiful Fr. Dollard Memorial Garden at the church will be his resting place. Father Gerald Musuubire will officiate the Mass located at 413 St Timothy Lane Tappahannock, VA 22560.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ed’s name to St. Timothy’s Catholic Church in Tappahannock, VA.
