Edwin was born on November 7, 1917 to William A. and Nettie L. Lockwood in Ohio. He graduated from Bowersville High School and feeling God's call on his life for Christian Ministry he went to the Kentucky Mountain Bible Institute. Following graduation, he worked for the school while waiting for the love of his life (Mary E. Glick) to graduate. They were married on June 11, 1942 and began ministry together at Flat Rock Community Church at Pomeroyton, Kentucky. Their home was blessed with five boys and one girl while at Flat Rock. After twelve years of pastoral ministry, Edwin entered the evangelistic ministry and for the next twelve years his work took him around the United States and into some foreign countries. Mary's ministry included raising six children and praying for her husband's ministry. God greatly blessed their work together. In August, 1965, Edwin and Mary moved to Onemo, Virginia with their three youngest children and he began seventeen years of pastoral ministry at Peniel Friends Church. Edwin was a pastor and friend to the entire county of Mathews. Upon retirement for then pastorate, his ministry continued with several intern pastorates, worship leader, two trips to Kenya, Africa and substitute preaching up until just a few months before his death. His life was long and full of God's blessing. Following his wife's death, Edwin married Delores Belvin Newton (DeDe) and for the last 7 years, she has loved him and cared for him. Edwin leaves behind friends around the world who celebrate his home going. His prayer would be that all of them accept and follow the Christ of Calvary and one day be joined together in his Father's Big House. Jesus promised that there was room for everyone.
