Elizabeth Hudgins

Elizabeth Boyd Hudgins, 96, of Mathews, passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at The Gloucester House, Gloucester, VA. She was born in Lancaster County, VA and was the daughter of the late Reverend William J. Boyd and Ruth Y. Boyd. She was also preceded in death by her husband William S. Hudgins, daughter-in-law Shirley H. Hudgins, sister Virginia B. Hudgins and brothers William J. Boyd, Jr. and Walter Y. Boyd. She is survived by her son William S. Hudgins, Jr., granddaughter, Jennifer H. Tortone and her husband, Thomas, grandson, Christopher Hudgins, great-grandchildren Jackson Tortone, Madison Hudgins, Taylor Hudgins and Carson Tortone and several nieces and a nephew. She graduated from New Point High School, New Point, VA and Blackstone College for Girls, Blackstone, VA. She retired as Assistant Cashier at the Mathews Branch of Bank of America. She was a member of Beulah United Methodist Church, Past Matron of Oriental Chapter No. 30, Order of the Eastern Star, Homemakers Club of New Point, and a former member of the Mathews Women's Club and Cricket Hall Chapter of the D.A.R. A Graveside service will be held on Sunday, August 14th. at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul Annex Cemetery, Susan, VA. The family will receive friends at the Fellowship Hall of Beulah United Methodist Church immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Beulah United Methodist Church, c/o Melanie Miles, P.O. Box 13, Port Haywood, VA, the Mathews Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 1130, Mathews, VA 23109, or the Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 723, Mathews, VA 23109. Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, VA is in charge of arrangements.
