Elizabeth Lamb

August 5, 1929 — August 3, 2023

On August 3, 2023, Elizabeth (Betty) Lamb passed peacefully at Riverside Convalescent Center in Saluda from chronic kidney disease with her daughter, Claudia, by her side. “Betty” was born on August 5, 1929, in Augusta, Georgia. Her husband of 64 years, Eddie, passed away in 2011. She is survived by her only child, Claudia, who she lived with for 8 years, as well as several nieces and nephews and extended family, Woodrow Sanders and the Novey family of Newport News.

One of the highlights of Betty’s life as a teenager was her love of roller skating where she met her future husband, Eddie. For everyone who knew and loved her, she was known as the “Queen” for her love of fashion (especially hats and jewelry) and enjoyed dressing up in her Sunday best for any outing. She loved traveling. For years Betty and Eddie would travel to all of Claudia’s horse shows. Claudia was a professional horse trainer for thirty years. After Eddie died in 2011, Claudia purchased an RV so that Betty could travel cross country comfortably.

Betty being the social butterfly that she was, was always up for a party, especially with good friends, good food and of course sweets. She enjoyed eating out whenever possible especially at Chick-fil-A. As a Christian conservative, Betty loved keeping up with current events and enjoyed lively conversations about politics throughout her life. She was active in her church from a young age throughout her adult life. She was blessed with wonderful neighbors and friends that she met while living in Gloucester with her daughter and many four-legged fur babies. When recently asked about her life, she said she had a fabulous life with no regrets. Joy now fills her spirit as she is united with her beloved husband and mother.

Claudia would like to thank the entire staff at Riverside Convalescent in Saluda, especially the aids, nurses and Hospice people for being so kind to her mother during her two month stay there. They looked after her every need and did as much as they could to make her as comfortable as possible. They were indeed her “angels”.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at 1pm at the Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church 6470 Main Street, Gloucester, Virginia. In lieu of flowers or food, a donation to Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church or Coastal Paws Rescue, c/o Raquel Linger, 709 Paul St, Newport News, VA 23605 would be appreciated.

Faulkner Funeral Homes, Bristow-Faulkner Chapel in Saluda, Virginia assisted the Lamb family with arrangements.
