Elizabeth Carlton Revere, of Hartfield, widow of Howell Lee Revere, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, July 15, 2012 surrounded by her family. She was born in King & Queen Court House on May 8, 1913. Elizabeth was active with her late husband H. L. Revere of 76 years in starting and growing a family business that survives today as Revere Gas. Her quiet strength was an inspiration to family and friends. She was truly the ultimate homemaker. Until her death, she was the oldest member of Lower United Methodist Church which had a special place in her heart. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ryland and Sadie Carlton, sister, Ellen C. Lloyd, brother, John Carlton, grandson, Charles R. (Chuck) Revere, Jr and is survived by her son and his wife, Charles and Sally Gayle; her grandsons and their wives, Craig and Tammy and Carlton and Darla, great-grandsons; Austin, Joshua, Trevor, Charlie and William and a favorite nephew, Jack Carlton. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, July 17 at Lower United Methodist Church, Hartfield, VA. The family will receive friends from 10 AM until service time at the church. Interment in church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts be sent to Lower United Methodist Church, PO Box 98, Hartfield, VA 23071.
