Elizabeth Clark “Betty Mae” Williams, 92, of Remlik, Virginia went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 16, 2023.
Born in the Northern Neck of Virginia on October 12, 1930, to Herbert and Lola Clark, she moved with her family to Middlesex when she was 12 years old.
Betty Mae loved her Lord and Savior and was a member of Hermitage Baptist Church for more than 75 years. She was a Sunday School teacher, mission’s leader, choir member, served on numerous committees and was deeply involved with the Women’s Missionary Union.
She was a school bus driver for Middlesex County Public Schools for 37 years. Upon retirement she joined the Central Middlesex Volunteer Rescue Squad, as a driver/first responder.
Betty Mae lived a servant’s life, always ready to help those in need. She knew no strangers and was affectionately known as “Mamaw” not only to her grandchildren, but to all children who knew her.
A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 49 years, Carter Williams, her son, Carter “Randy” Williams and her great granddaughter, Megan Elizabeth.
She is survived by her sister, Faye Hicks of Mechanicsville, her sons Donald Williams (Darlene), Leroy Williams (Ann), her daughter Linda Ransone (Steve) and her daughter-in-law Peggy Williams. She had seven granddaughters, Angie, Shalonda, Monica, Crystal, Christine, Bebo and Mandy, 14 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank her church family, special nieces, Riverside Hospice and the caregivers who were especially close to her the last few years.
The family will receive visitors from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at Hermitage Baptist Church, 94 Wares Bridge Road, Church View, VA 23032, followed immediately by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. The family invites friends to join them for a reception in the church social hall immediately following the burial in the church cemetery.
Remembering her love for children’s missions, in lieu of flowers, the family request you honor her memory by making donations to Hermitage Baptist Church Children’s Ministry.
