Ellen "Betty" Lewis

Ellen Elizabeth Lewis (Betty), 92, of Locust Hill, Virginia, passed away quietly in her sleep at Dockside Health and Rehab Center on Tuesday, October 16, 2018. She was born in Baltimore, MD, and raised Pimlico, MD. She married the love of her life, Erwin H. Lewis Sr., who preceded her in death. They were happily married for 50 years. She was a member of Parkville Baptist Church, Parkville, MD, and was retired from Mercantile Bank & Trust. She and Erwin then retired to Gwynn’s Island, VA in 1985. Betty was an incredible seamstress, loves fishing, boating, knitting, and bowled well into her 90’s.

She is survived by her daughter, Ellen Lenora Kelbaugh and her son, Erwin “Bubby” H. Lewis Jr (Jeanette); eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. She is also survived by her beloved friend and caretaker, Gloria Petrauskas, of Gwynn’s Island, VA.

A private burial service was held on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Gwynn’s Island Cemetery, Gwynn’s Island, VA. On Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 3:00 p.m., a private family graveside service will be held at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mathews County Rescue Squad, (P.O. Box 723, Mathews, VA, 23109) Faulkner Funeral Homes, Foster-Faulkner Chapel, Mathews, VA, is assisting the family with arrangements.
