Elsie Wilson

Elsie Sears Wilson, age 93 left this life for her heavenly home on June 6, 2017. She was a life resident of Gloucester County and was the daughter of the late Richard Sears and Minnie Bew Sears. She was a life-long member of Salem United Methodist Church where she taught children’s Sunday school and enjoying singing in the church choir for many years. She was a loving and devoted wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was always willing to help and be there for family and friends. She enjoyed being with her extended family at Gloucester House, going on trips, playing bingo, and doing the crafts with Rebecca and Kim. She also loved to cook and enjoyed sharing her dishes at church functions, with family members, and friends that would stop by for a visit. She is survived by two daughters; Pat Sutton (Gene) of Newport News, Marion McDonald (Ronald) of Richmond; one son, Ronny Wilson (Robin) of Gloucester; grandchildren, Tammy Eagle (Buddy) of York County, Kara McDonald-White (Doug) of Charlottesville; great-grandchildren, Zachary and Sarah Eagle of York County and Helen White of Charlottesville. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Woodford Wilson; brothers, Thomas Sears and Edward Sears; sisters, Dorothy South and Anna Roy. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 8th from 5 to 7 p.m. at Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Saluda, VA. Funeral and graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 9th at Salem United Methodist Church, Gloucester, VA, followed by a celebration of her life in the church fellowship hall. All services will be led by Reverend Rita Staul. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Salem United Methodist Church, 1148 Salem Church Rd., Gloucester, VA 23061 or Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue, PO Box 1417, Gloucester, VA 23061. The family wishes to extend special thanks to the many caregivers and staff at Gloucester House who lovingly cared for her. A special thanks to Dr. Peter Zullo for his concern and care over the years.
