Emory Bernard Speight, Jr. passed away on May 9,2013 in Deltaville,Virginia peacefully at home after several months of failing health. Emory was born in Portsmouth,Virginia to the late Emory Sr. and Nettie Etheleen Rountree. He served as a member of the USMC at the end of WWII and was called back for the Korean War. He worked for over 35 years as a pipe-fitter through Plumbers and Fitters Local 110 Norfolk, Virginia. After he retired, he and his wife Roegean moved from Port Norfolk, Portsmouth,Virginia to Lake Gaston, N.C. They spent 10 years living on the lake then moved to Deltaville to live near their youngest daughter Wandra Thornton. Emory is survived by his wife of 48 years, Roegean Speight; four children, William L. Ripley and his wife, Robin; Jennifer Bales and her husband, James; Wayne Speight and his wife, Sarah; Wandra Thornton and her husband, Dickie; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 16, 2013 in Clarksbury United Methodist Church, 5924 General Puller Hwy., Hardyville,VA 23070.
