Erma Hudgins Webb, 88, went to live with Jesus following a long illness on Sunday, June 7, 2020. Erma was born July 11, 1931 in Mathews, Virginia. Following her graduation from Woodrow Wilson High School, Erma married James H. Webb, Jr. on February 25, 1950.
Erma retired as Director of Finance from Mathews County Public Schools in 1997 after 26 years of service. She was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Mathews, serving in many positions through the years. Erma was known for the many cards and flowers that she sent to friends and family throughout the year. If she knew you, she never missed a birthday or an anniversary. She loved to shop and was known for her marathon shopping trips. Erma loved her church and her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren gave her joys and smiles.
Erma was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, James Haywood Webb, Jr.; her mother, Goldie Virginia Hudgins; her father, Floyd Ellis Hudgins, Sr.; sisters, Janette Hudgins and Virginia Hughes and her brother, Floyd Ellis Hudgins, Jr.
She is survived by two daughters, Jill Webb and Joy Drummond (Jim); two grandchildren, Kara Drummond Royall (Hunter) and Timothy Drummond (Tori); five great-grandchildren, Fiona, Libby, Sam Drummond and Julia and Adrienne Royall and several special nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. at Bethel United Methodist Church, 1459 Garden Creek Road, Onemo, Virginia 23130, with a funeral service beginning at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow the service at Milford Cemetery, Moon, Virginia.
