Eugene Callis

Eugene M. Callis, 81, of Gwynn's Island, Virginia passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at Riverside-Walter Reed Hospital with his family by his side. Eugene loved hunting, fishing, gardening and most importantly his family. We will always miss his great sense of humor and his jokes. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Peggy Diggs Callis; one, sister Mabel Matthews; his children, Ronald Callis, Tammy Powell (Charles, Jr.), Pamela Hudgins (Brad), and Steve Callis (Jessica); grandchildren, Jason Powell (Kristin), Bryan Powell (Sarah), Nichole Byrd (Jason), Ashley Callis (Timmy), Victoria Callis, and Bailey and Braden Hudgins; 6 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and other loving family members. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 12, 2015 from 6 -8 pm at Foster-Faulkner Funeral Home, Mathews, Virginia. A Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at 2pm with burial to follow in Gwynn's Island Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Eugene's memory to the Mathews Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 723, Mathews, VA 23109 or to the Mathews Volunteer Fire Dept., P.O.
