Evelyn Wood

Evelyn "Jo" Wood, 72, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 27, 2016 after battling Alzheimer's disease. Jo was born on March 13, 1944 in Evansville, IN, and grew up in Somerset, KY. She has resided in Mathews, VA since 1972. She was a homemaker and later worked as an LPN at Riverside Convalescent Center. Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight Lee Wood. She is survived by her sisters Faye Kavanaugh and Connie Debord Leigh, her children Matthew Wood, Scott Wood and his wife Tracey, Jennifer Harrow and her husband Greg Harrow, and five grandchildren Alexander Wood, Bradley and Christiana Wood, and Courtney and Andrew Harrow. Visitation will be held at Gwynn's Island Church of the Nazarene at 1:30pm on Monday, October 31 with a funeral service beginning at 2:30pm. Burial will follow at Windsor Gardens Cemetery in Dutton, VA. In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to Gwynn's Island Church of the Nazarene or to the Alzheimer's Association.
