Floyd Daniel “Whitey” Robertson was born to Henry Lee Robertson and Emma Louise Davis Robertson on September 29, 1935 in Richmond, VA and died May 14, 2019 at his home on the Rappahannock River in Essex County, VA. He leaves behind his beloved wife Jill Bryan Robertson, niece Sandra (Tim) Robertson Reed, his nephews James (Doris) Robertson, Danny (Joan) Robertson, Tom Robertson, nieces Jenny and Tracy Platt, step-children Will (Lisa) Bryan and Sarah (Craig) Hefel and many grandnieces and grandnephews. He was predeceased by his son Dan Robertson, nephew David (Becky) Robertson and a sister, Beverly (Kim) Robertson Jones.
Dan grew up in Church Hill. Upon graduation from high school he was offered a baseball scholarship to the University of Richmond, however, at the time his father insisted he go to work and start to support himself. After a short time working at the telephone company he went to work for Philip Morris and stayed there until a near fatal heart attack rendered him disabled. He loved his family and his place on the river. In 2003 Hurricane Isabel destroyed his cottage and after a year a new home was born and he had his home on the river again.
The family wants to thank Amedicis Home Health Care and ultimately Tappahannock Riverside Hospice for all the care and nurturing that helped him through his last illness.
Private service to be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Riverside Tappahannock Hospice, 289 Hospital Road, Tappahannock, VA. 22560.
