Frances Jones Allen, 98, of Tappahannock, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. Frances was the daughter of the late George Sidney and Annie Stevens McKendrie. She spent most of her life as a caregiver, caring for her mother, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved to laugh and especially loved to be around young people. She was an avid knitter and also enjoyed crocheting. She made hundreds of Afghans for friends and family over the years. She was known to most as Memaw and loved her family dearly. She was a member of Ephesus Baptist Church.
Frances is survived by her daughters, Frances Trible (Austin) and Debbie Rowland (Mike); stepson, Sidney Wayne Allen (Lisa); stepdaughter, Cathy White (Butch); grandchildren, Chris Sylva, Angie Hodges (Bryon), Kelly Ricks (Chad), Jamie Tignor (Shannon), Michael Rowland and Tyler Rowland; great-grandchildren Owen and Ella Hodges, Will, Tanner and Chatham Ricks, Ian, Hailey and Easton Sylva and Mia and Cooper Tignor, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husbands, Franklin Jones and Sidney Allen, and her sisters and a brother.
The family will receive friends from 2-3:00 pm on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Marks-Bristow Chapel, Tappahannock, with a funeral service following at 3:00pm. Interment will follow at Essex Cemetery with Pastor Larry Schools officiating. Pallbearers are Chris Sylva, Jamie Tignor, Michael Rowland, Tyler Rowland, Owen Hodges and Ian Sylva. Honorary pallbearers are Will Ricks, Tanner Ricks, Andrew Trible and Norris Loving.
