George Thomas Green of Gwynn’s Island entered eternity on July 18, 2016. Tom was predeceased by his wife Lillian Hicks Green, 1 sister (Alma) and 5 brothers. (Clyde, Robert, Jim, John, and Joe. He is survived by his wife Betty Ann Green of Gwynn’s Island. He is also survived by his daughter, Vicky Rogers (Ken) and 3 grandchildren, Amanda Hearnsberger (Cory), Matthew Rogers (Chandler) and Laura Rogers, 4 step-children, Brenda Orrell (Tom), Ida Sue Ewell, (Kenny), Ronald Keith Rowe (Nancy), Nancy Carol Hunley (Tom), step grandchildren, Emily, Sarah, John Curtis, Lucas, Hannah, Justin, Leslie, April, Amanda and step great grandchildren Abigail, Vivie, Zoe, Kayla and Maliya. Tom was born and raised in Remlik, Virginia, spending his life working on the Rappahannock River that he loved. Later in life, he moved to Williamsburg, Kilmarnock and Gwynn’s Island where he made many friends. His greatest love was knowing that his eternity was secured in Heaven because of the blood of Jesus. Regardless of where he was living, the first thing he did was to find a church that loved Jesus and would love him. He was blessed to have had many loving church families. If you never had the opportunity to hear Tom pray, you missed a life blessing; Tom did not pray to God, he talked to Him in intimate conversation. So many friends and family have been caring and supportive during Tom’s illness, for which the family is very grateful. We especially want to thank his wife, Betty Ann for the loving care, peace and comfort she gave him during this time. She has traveled many miles and has spent many hours sitting in a hospital room or nursing home. As his mind began to forget things, even her at times, she never forgot him. Her devotion to him, and being there for and with him, has meant so very much to the family. Per his wishes, a memorial service will be held at Remlik Wesleyan Church in Remlik, Virginia on Saturday, July 23 at 11:00 AM. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service. Interment in the church cemetery will be private. Expressions of sympathy may be made to your local church. Arrangements by Bristow-Faulkner Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Saluda.
