George Throckmorton

George Maurice Throckmorton, Jr., of Urbanna, VA, formerly of Sandston, VA, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2023.

He was born on June 11, 1964, in Richmond, VA to George Maurice Throckmorton, Sr. and Catherine Lacks Throckmorton.

He was a member of the Sandston Masonic Lodge #216. He was an avid golfer and loved being on the water, fishing, and sailing with family and friends on his Grady White. He also enjoyed playing guitar and listening to some of his favorite musicians like James Taylor and Van Morrison.

George was preceded in death by his mother Catherine, and his sisters, Sheila Kagalis and Karen Zekert.

He is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn “Carol” Throckmorton; daughter, Allison Nida (Corey); granddaughter, Grace Lynn Nida; father, George Maurice Throckmorton, Sr.; brothers-in-law, Bart Zekert and Lou Kagalis; in-laws, Sue Rainey (Bob, deceased); sister-in-law, Lynda Rainey (John Reynolds); nieces, Casie Antalis (Nate), Lindsay Kagalis and Lauren Hill (Anthony Pfab); five great nieces and nephews; one furry daughter, shih tzu Sophie and one grand pug, Penny.

The family will receive friends on Monday, September 18, 2023, at Faulkner Funeral Homes, Bristow-Faulkner Chapel, Saluda, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed immediately by a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The family invites friends to gather for a reception at Something Different, located at 213 Virginia Street, Urbanna, VA 23175 immediately following the service.

A special thanks to Dr. Stephen Liu, Mercedes, 5 North nurses at Georgetown University Hospital, Dr. Alexander Spira, the staff of VCS/NEXT in Fairfax, VA and At Home Hospice for their dedicated care and compassion given to George and his family.
